This site is operated by Doing Science (“we,” “us”). It is informational. This page explains what we collect, what we do with it, and the terms that apply when you use the site or contact us.
What we collect
Analytics. Our website host collects standard technical information when you visit — IP address, browser type, device type, pages viewed, and referring site. We use this to understand how the site is used. We do not attempt to identify individual visitors.
Cookies. The site uses cookies necessary for it to function and, depending on your settings, basic analytics cookies. You can disable cookies in your browser; the site will still work.
Information you send us. If you email us — including to request access to our grant application — we receive whatever you choose to send: your name, email address, institution, and any information about your work that you include.
What we do with it
We use what you send to respond to you, to evaluate grant inquiries and applications, and to administer our grant program.
We do not sell your information. We share it only with service providers who help us operate the site and our email, and where we are required to by law.
We keep grant inquiries and applications for as long as we need them to administer the program and to maintain a record of our decisions.
Your choices
You can ask us what information we hold about you, ask us to correct it, or ask us to delete it. Email us and we will respond within a reasonable time. Depending on where you live, you may have additional rights under applicable privacy law, and we will honor those where they apply.
This site is not directed to children, and we do not knowingly collect information from anyone under 16.
Grant inquiries and applications
Material you send us about your research is reviewed by us and by advisors we consult in evaluating proposals. We ask our advisors to keep what they see confidential, but we are not able to guarantee confidentiality, and sending us material does not create a confidential relationship.
Please do not send confidential, proprietary, or unpublished data, or anything subject to a confidentiality obligation, in an initial inquiry. If we need that material later, we will tell you and we will agree in writing on how it will be handled.
Submitting an inquiry or an application creates no obligation on our part to fund, to respond further, or to refrain from funding similar work by others. We review many proposals and may support research that resembles yours.
Using this site
Nothing on this site is an offer to fund, a commitment to fund, or something to rely on. Grant terms are set in a written agreement, and nothing else is binding.
Nothing here is medical, legal, financial, or scientific advice.
The content of this site belongs to us. You may read it, quote it with attribution, and link to it. Please don’t reproduce it wholesale or present it as your own. We sometimes link to other sites, which we don’t control and aren’t responsible for.
We provide this site as is, without warranties of any kind. To the fullest extent permitted by law, we are not liable for any damages arising from your use of it. These terms are governed by the laws of the State of Connecticut, without regard to its conflict of laws rules.
